Abstract

Azotobacter chroococcum is an important PGPR (Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria) producing compounds needed for plant growth. The aim of this research was to study the effects of different native strains of Azotobacter chroococcum on growth and yield of wheat under greenhouse counditions. Seeds of spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L. var. Pishtaz) were inoculated with some Azotobacter chroococcum strains capable of producing IAA, HCN, sidrophore and fixing molecular nitrogen. The inoculation of wheat with those strains had a positive, significant effect on biological yield, seed protein percentage, thousand seed weight, leaf area, N, P, Fe and Zn uptake, in particular, by wheat. The increased growth of wheat was most likely due to the production of IAA and enhanced nitrogen fixation by inoculated strains. Some strains of Azotobacter chroococcum native to Chaharmahal va Bakhtiari are established as PGPR. Results also support the efficiency of Azotobacter chroococcum as an important biofertilizer in wheat cropping systems. The selected strains had a significant effect on wheat growth and yield, including biological yield and seed quality under greenhouse counditions. This beneficial effect of Azotobacter chroococcum on wheat is attributed mainly to IAA production and, to some extent to non symbiotic nitrogen fixation in the rhizosphere. So, these strains can potentially be used to improve wheat nutrition of micronutrients such as Fe and Zn, in particular.

Abstract

Magnetic susceptibility (χ) measurements are widely used for the evaluation of soil profile development. Fourteen soil profiles were studied in a relatively wide range of climatic conditions in Fars Province. Citrate-bicarbonate-dithionite (CBD) extraction and micro CT-Scan images were used to evaluate the source of magnetic susceptibility. The results showed that soil samples lost 23 to 91 percent of their magnetic susceptibility after CBD extraction (χCBD), reflecting differences in the source (pedogenic or lithogenic) of magnetic susceptibility. Greater values of the decrease were noticed mostly in well developed soil profiles as well as in soil surface. 22 to 89% of the decrease was observed in frequency dependence of magnetic susceptibility (χfd) after CBD extraction. A significant positive correlation (P<0.01) was obtained between χCBD and χfd in the soil studied. Micro CT-Scan images with a spatial resolution of 33 µm showed lithogenic magnetic Fe oxide (magnetite) grains.

Abstract

Identification and investigation of changes in the area under cultivation of various crops seem to be essential for the management supply of crop production. In this study, r to identify and investigate change of the area under cultivation in major crop Hoseynabade Mishmast region in Qom province, we used the time series images of OLI and ETM sensors of landsat 8 and 7satellites, according to the crop calendar of this region. By using the vegetation index (NDVI) in the decision tree algorithm, the thresholds of this index were adjusted according to the major crops of this region; then a map of the cultivation pattern of the crop of this region was prepared. In order to evaluate the results, the statistics of the provinces agricultural jihad were used during 2005, 2009, 2014 and 2019 crop years. The results showed that by using the threshold of NDVI index, crops in this region in 2005 included wheat and barley and alfalfa, and their areas had an error of 17/1 and 6/1 percent in comparison with the statistics of agricultural Jihad, respectively; in 2009, wheat and barley, alfalfa and corn had an error of 0/5, 9/6 and 0/1 percent. Also, in 2014, wheat and barley, alfalfa, corn and sophie crops had an error equal to 4/9, 0.4, 11/4 and 2/4 percent, and the same crops in 2019 had an error 0/04, 11/6, 1/4 and 17/5 percent; that error was not significant. According to the results, the appropriate efficiency NDVI index in estimating crop cultivation area was determined by their phenology. Also, in 2009 and 2014, corn and sophie crops were added to the regions crops, and the area under crops cultivation in 2019 was increased, as compared to 2014.

Abstract

In this research, the hydraulic parameters of flow have been investigated on SMBF flumes in two simple and multiple modes. In this research, Flow3D software was used for the numerical simulation of SMBF flow. The simulations have been performed in three flow rates (5, 15, and 30 liters per second) and three opening rates (0.075, 0.1, and 0.15 meters). The results showed that when multiple SMBF flumes are used instead of simple SMBF flumes, the maximum velocity increased by 12% on average at a flow rate of 5 L/s, 19% at a flow rate of 15 L/s, and 10% at a flow rate of 30 L/s. The energy consumption of multiple SMBF flumes has been reduced on average by 21% at a flow rate of 5 L/s, by 66% at a flow rate of 15 L/s, and by 122% at a flow rate of 30 L/s compared to simple SMBF flumes. Finally, the observations showed that during the productivity of multiple SMBF flumes compared to simple SMBF flumes, the size of eddies has decreased and the number of eddies and the area of flow turbulence have increased.
