Abstract
The goal of this study was to evaluate tannic acid as a coagulant in turbidity removal. Tests were designed using Taguchi method and carried out on the synthetic and natural turbid samples. In order to optimize turbidity removal by tannic acid, seven factors including pH, coagulant dosage, rapid mixing rate, slow mixing rate, slow mixing time, sedimentation time and initial turbidity were investigated. The results revealed that in optimum conditions, tannic acid could n remove up to 71 percent of synthetic turbidity and 66 percent of natural turbidity; also, tannic acid showed more coagulation activity in the lower initial turbidities. ANOVA analysis showed that initial turbidity and slow mixing time were the most important parameters in the turbidity removal by tannic acid. In general, this study showed that tannic acid was capable of removing turbidity and could be used instead of common coagulants in the preliminary treatment.

Abstract
In this study, in order to analyze the trends of annual precipitation, the information from 21 synoptic meteorological stations located in the Urmia Lake basin in a 30-year time period (1986-2015) was used. For this purpose, the Sequential Mann-Kendall test was used. The date of sudden change (if exist) in the precipitation time series of each station was identified. Significance of the trend in each of the time series and its direction (decrease or increase) in each of the stations were tested at 0.05 level. The results showed that 10 out of the 21 stations had a significant decreasing trend. Three stations (Sarab, Bostanabad and Sardasht) had significant increasing trends. Precipitation trends of eight stations were insignificant. Also, the study of sudden breaking points in the annual rainfall time series of the selected stations revealed that about 57.143 percent of the stations (12 stations) showed a significant sudden change in their annual rainfall series. In other words, more than half of the selected stations exhibited a sudden change in their time series. The date of the sudden change of precipitation in eight stations (namely, Bonab, Sarab, Urmia, Oshnavieh, Kahrizi, Miyandoab, Bokan and Saghez) belonged to the middle part of the time series (i.e. 1996-2005). The sudden change date of t hree stations (namely, Sardasht, Nagade and Tekab) belonged to the first decade of time series (i.e. 1986-1995) and only the sudden change date of one station (namely, Maragheh) belonged to the last decade of time series (i.e. 2006-2015).

Abstract
The effects of climate change can be released from the surface to the soil depth, thereby affecting soil thermal regime. Thermal energy in the soil plays a very important role in causing climate changes. In this study, for the assessment and detection of the climate changes, soil depths temperature, the measured data related to the daily air temperature at a height of 2 meters (screen) during the years (1951-2014), and the soil depths daily temperature (5-10-20-30-50 to 100 cm), for 3, 9 and 15 hours, were obtained during a period (1992-2014) in Shahrud station. The climate change detection was employed to compare the treatment mean. As well, for detection of trends related to the annual, seasonal and monthly time series and their relation to the soil depths temperature, parametric methods (regression analysis and Pearson) and nonparametric (Mann-Kendall, Spearman) were applied. The results showed that the soil temperature was increased in all months except January, February and March. Also, in the seasonal time series, the soil depths temperature was increased in all seasons except winter. In fact, based on the results, the soil temperature in spring, summer and autumn was increased. Detection trends of the annual soil depths temperature showed that, except for the Pearson correlation coefficient method, soil temperature was increased at all soil depths.

Abstract
Rivers are one of the most important source of water supply for drinking and farming purposes. Zard River is one of the surface water resources of Khuzestan province. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the quality of the river water and to observe the trend of changes in the water quality of this river in the Mashin station during the period of 1997-2015 by using the Man-Kendal, Spearman, variance analysis statistical methods and the least significant difference (LSD) and cluster analysis. LSD test shows SAR, Na, Cl, pH parameters up to 2010 (before Jare dam construction) were significant at 95% confidence level compared to 2015 (year of control). No changes were made after dam construction. According to Mann-Kendal non-parametric test, pH, Ca and SO4 have a significant upward trend to the 0.037, 0.393 and 0.376 respectively, the variables Cl, SAR, Na and temperature have a significant decreasing trend to the -0.387, -0.417, -0.386 and -0.1 respectively. Also Spearman test shows that the dam improved the quality of river water regarding to salinity. Variance analysis show that pH, SAR, Na, Cl, Ca and SO4 have significant difference. Cluster analysis classified the qualitative data before the construction of the dam in three clusters and after the construction of the dam were divided into two clusters where TDS variable was less distant than other variables. As a result, the quality of the irrigation water is changed downward and the TDS is more similar to the other variables compared.

Abstract
The Kor River in Fars province supplies an important part of water requirement in the Doroodzan dam basin and its surrounding area. In this study, the meteorological and hydrological droughts of this area were investigated in the last four decades. For this purpose, the temporal and spatial trend variability of the stream flow was investigated in monthly, seasonal, and annual time scales in the 6 selected stations. The trends of Standardized Precipitation Index SPI, as the drought index, in the 5 selected stations were also studied by the modified Mann-Kendall method. The results indicated that the trend in the stream flow was decreasing in all time scales. Significant downward trends were observed at 95% confidence level on monthly, annual and monthly time scales, especially in the warm months from May to September. These significant downward trends were located spatially in the stations located near the agriculture area, in the middle part of the basin. The significant upward trend existed only at the Doroodzan dam station, at the outlet in the area and in the warm months of the year. In the case of the SPI index, trends were decreasing in all time scales and were significant only at 2 stations in the long-term periods, 9, 12, and 18 months, at 95% confidence level. The results, therefore, indicated the occurrence of severe droughts (SPI<-2) during 1982-83 and 2007-8 periods.

Abstract
In this study, the temporal and spatial variation of snow depth over the mountainous region of Zagros, in the western Iran, for the period 1979–2010 was investigated for the cold season when the probability of snow occurrences was high. For this purpose, daily gridded snow depth data relative to Era-Interim/land were retrieved from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) and used for spatiotemporal analysis of snow in the region. Furthermore, monthly maximum, minimum and mean air temperature relative to the weather stations distributed over the region were also used to investigate the relationship between snow depth and air temperature variability in the region. In each grid point, the rate of temporal changes in the snow depth was estimated using the Sen’s slope estimator, while the modified Mann-Kendall Test was applied to assess if the change identified was statistically significant. The results showed that in almost all of the studied months, especially February and March, the snow depth was significantly reduced in the region, which was statistically significant at 5% significant level. Unlike the observed statistically significant decreasing trend in the depth snow in the region, a significant increase in the maximum, minimum and average temperature was observed for all the studied months and the stations. The result suggested that the observed decrease in the snow depth in the region was related to the increasing trend in the temperature during the study period, which could be attributed to the global warming and climate change.

Abstract
Today, the rising surface temperature of the planet and its effects on the water cycle have attracted the attention of many researchers. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of climate change on the Tajan (the upstream of Shahid Rajaei dam) catchment area. In order to study the output of CanESM2 model, the SDSM method was used to estimate the magnitude of the data. Flow discharge changes in Shahid Rajaei Dam were simulated using the weather data of Kiasar synoptic station and the temperature and precipitation changes were simulated using the climate scenarios of RCP2.6 and RCP8.5 for the 2016-2066 period. Also, the effect of different scenarios on the outflow of the Soleiman Tangeh hydrometric station was evaluated by SWAT hydrologic model. The results showed that the annual precipitation would be decreased by 58% and the air temperature would be increased by 14% under RCP2.6 scenario. Also, in the RCP8.5 scenario, precipitation would be decreased by 59.5% and the temperature would be increased by 21%. Peak discharge for RCP2.6 and RCP8.5 scenarios would be increased by 4% and 5.7%, respectively, and the average annual discharge might be decreased by 16% and 16.5% in the future period (2016-2066). Therefore, it can be planned by the investigation of conditions for cropping patterns in the downstream to consider the environmental impacts for future periods.

Abstract
The Plant Water Resistance Index (CWSI) is a tool that can be used for the rapid monitoring of plant water status, which is a key requirement for the accurate product irrigation management. The purpose of this study was to calculate the CWSI index for bean hares in the Khorramabad region for two methods of surface irrigation and drip tape irrigation. For this purpose, a design was implemented in the form of randomized complete block design and split plot experiment. The main factors included drip tape irrigation (T) and surface irrigation (F), and the cultivars of Chibi cultivars including COS16 (C), Sadri (S) and diluted (K) served as sub-plots. By using the field measurements, the position of the upper and lower base lines was estimated for each treatment in different months and used to calculate the CWSI index. The results showed that CWSI values calculated in the surface irrigation during plant growth period were always higher than those in the drip tape irrigation. The highest value of CWSI index was obtained for the Sadri variety, which was equal to 0.20 and 0.26, for the type and surface method, respectively. Statistical analysis showed that the effect of irrigation method on the amount of water stress index was significant at 5% level, but there was no significant difference between different cultivars. According to the results of this study, the threshold values for CWSI were considered to be 0.19 and 0.24 for surface and drip tape irrigation respectively, and relationships were presented based on the differences in vegetation and air temperature to determine the irrigation time.

Abstract
The objective of this study was to investigate the impact of land use change (forest and rangelands to agriculture) on some micromorphological indices of soil quality in part of Rakat watershed, southwest of Iran. Accordingly, intact soil samples from 0-15 and 15-30 cm depths were collected from the above-mentioned land uses, and microstructure, type and abundance of voids, redoximorphic features, and humic substances were compared. The results showed that in the natural forest use, most of the voids are in the form of macropores, whereas after their conversion to agriculture, these types of voids have little development. In natural rangelands uses, voids were mainly oriented channels and of macropore type, but after switching from pasture to agriculture, they were mainly of vughy type. The results showed that natural forests (27.73%) and natural grasslands (22.28%) had more abundance of voids than forest to agriculture (19.01%) and grassland to agriculture (18.62%) land uses. In both natural forests and pasture land uses, various types of iron and manganese nodules, coatings, hypo-coatings, and quasi-coatings were significantly higher than agricultural land uses.

Abstract
The study of floods has always been important for researchers due to the great loss of life and property. Investigation of flood bed can provide appropriate solutions to reduce this phenomenon to managers and researchers. In this research, the compound channel (with flood plain on one side of the main channel) Been paid, Therefore, two experimental models of compound channel in laboratory flume were examined by considering dimensional analysis. With the goal Investigation of lateral slope of flood wall in laboratory model In the first model, transverse slope 0 And in the second model, a value equal to 50% Was considered. Also in order to investigate the effect of longitudinal slope of river bed sediments Longitudinal slope in three steps 0.00 2, 0.004 and 0.006 Was changed. Examining the ADV speedometer data, the results showed that with increasing the longitudinal and transverse slope (slope of the flood wall) of the channel, the maximum longitudinal velocity changes to the floor of the channel. In order to investigate the effect of average sediment diameter on the scouring process during experiments Mm was used. The results showed that increasing the longitudinal and transverse slope had a great effect on increasing the volume of washed sediments 3 and 0.9 of sandy sediments with a diameter Along the canal and with the increase of these longitudinal and transverse slopes in the channel, more sediment transport volume occurs. In the following, using Investigation of dimensionless numbers obtained from dimensional analysis, dimensionless weight landing number was introduced to evaluate this value value of other hydraulic parameters and Was introduced. A relationship based on nonlinear regression with correlation coefficient Acceptable was introduced at around 0.88.

Abstract
In this study, the hydraulic characteristics of the flap gates are installed at the end of the trapezoidal channels were investigated by laboratory study. In the physical model, three trapezoidal channels and four gates with different weights were used (12 gates for three channels). Based on several experiments, equations for estimating of flow rate for each side slope (each channel) were developed using dimensional analysis. In this research, five forms of discharge-stage relationship were used to obtain relationships for each side slop to estimate flow rate, separately. The results show that none of the discharge-stage relationships forms as a single relationship for all flap gates in a certain channel are suitable for estimating discharge. But the first, second, and third forms of the discharge-stage relationship are very suitable for estimating the flow rate in a certain channel for a certain flap gate. In other words, for each gate with a specific weight, a separate (unique) relationship is obtained to estimate the flow rate in the form of the first to the third discharge-stage relationship in a certain channel. To estimate of flow rate by using the first form of the discharge-stage relationship, the maximum values of statistical parameters of RMSE, ME, and MARE, among all three channels, are 0.0001 m3/s, 0.00022 m3/s, and 0.22 percent, respectively. The values of all the above statistical parameters for the first, second, and third forms of the discharge-stage relationship are presented in the article.

Abstract
The irrigation schedule of crops is the most effective way to increase agricultural water use efficiency. In irrigation planning, determining the irrigation time is more important and difficult than determining the depth of irrigation water. Among all methods of determining the irrigation time of crops, the methods which used plants are more accurate than other methods. In this study, the wheat water stress index has been used which is based on the air vapor pressure deficit and the difference between vegetation and air temperature (Tc-Ta). First of all, the diagram and the relationship between the top and bottom baselines were extracted, then the water stress index of wheat was drawn in the Karaj region. Secondly, to determine the optimal water stress index of wheat, four treatments including I1: 30% of maximum allowable depletion of moisture, I2: 45% of maximum allowable depletion of moisture, I3: 60% of maximum allowable depletion of moisture, I4: 75% of maximum allowable depletion of moisture were performed in four replications. The amount of water stress index of each treatment was calculated during the season separately, and the CWSI of the treatment with the highest water use efficiency was used to determine the irrigation time of wheat. The results showed that the relationship between the upper and lower baseline for wheat in the Karaj region is Tc-Ta = 3.6 0c and
Tc-Ta = -0.27VPD - 2.64, respectively. The treatment of 45% of maximum allowable depletion of moisture had the highest water use efficiency and the optimal water stress index for wheat was obtained at 0.36 in the Karaj region.

Abstract
Since clay is widely used in most construction projects, the issue of improving clay soils has considerable importance. This study aimed to optimize the variables affecting the properties of geopolymer and improve their mechanical properties using Isfahan blast furnace slag. Taguchi's statistical design method was used to model three process variables (blast furnace slag, water, and alkali sodium hydroxide agent) with four different values in the mixing design. Geopolymer was used to optimize the uniaxial compressive strength. Sixteen geopolymer compositions determined by mini-tab software were prepared and their uniaxial compressive strength was measured. The obtained results were modeled by analysis of variance, and then the interactions of the three variables on the uniaxial compressive strength of geopolymer were investigated using two and 3D diagrams. Then, the variables were optimized and the proposed values for the optimal sample were examined at temperatures of 25, 50, and 70°C and at times of 3, 7, 14, and 28 days of operation. A comparison of the results predicted by the models and the results of the experiments confirmed the validity of the models. Also, the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images showed that the porosity will reduce from 7 to 28 days. It indicated that the use of the geopolymerization method has a significant role in stabilizing weak clay soils with low plasticity. The effect of fibers and geopolymer to reinforce was also investigated and for better evaluation, it was compared with soil stabilization with Portland cement. The results showed that in the most optimal geopolymer composition, the bearing resistance of clay has increased by more than 3400%. Meanwhile, fibers along with geopolymer with optimal percentage and length (0.1% by weight of geopolymer composition and length of 12 mm) were able to increase the uniaxial compressive strength of clay by nearly 4000%, which shows the excellent effect of using cellular fibers parameter whit the geopolymer in this research.

In this research, soft computational models including multiple adaptive spline regression model (MARS) and data group classification model (GMDH) were used to estimate the geometric dimensions of stable alluvial channels including channel surface width (w), flow depth (h), and longitudinal slope (S) and the results of the developed models were compared with the multilayer neural network (MLP) model. To develop the models, the flow rate parameters (Q), the average particle size in the floor and body (d50) as well as the shear stress (t) as input and the parameters of water surface width (w), flow depth (h), and longitudinal slope (S) were used as output parameters. Soft computing models were developed in two scenarios based on raw parameters and dimensionless form independent and dependent parameters. The results showed that the statistical characteristics in estimating w, the best performance is related to the MARS model, whose statistical indicators of accuracy in the training stage are R2 = 0.902, RMSE=1.666 and in the test phase is R2 = 0.844, RMSE=2.317. In estimating the channel depth, the performance of both GMDH and MARS models is approximately equal, both of which were developed based on the dimensionless form of flow rate as the input variable. The statistical indicators of both models in the training stage are R2 » 0.90, RMSE » 8.15 and in the test phase is R2 » 0.90, RMSE = 7.40. The best performance of the developed models in estimating the longitudinal slope of the channel was related to both MARS and GMDH models, although, in part, the accuracy of the GMDH model with statistical indicators R2 = 0.942, RMSE = 0.0011 in the training phase and R2 = 0.925, RMSE = 0.0014 in the experimental stage is more than the MARS model.

In the present study, the flow rate in flues containing lateral semi-cylinders (SMBF) was simulated and estimated under free and submerged conditions using back vector machine models (SVM), spin multivariate adaptive regression (MARS), and multilayer artificial neural network (MLPNN) model. In free flow mode, the dimensionless parameters extracted from the dimensional analysis include the ratio of upstream flow to throat width and contraction ratio (throat width to channel width), and in the submerged state, in addition to these two parameters, the depth-to-throat width, and bottom-depth parameters upstream depth were used as input and the two-dimensional form of flow rate was used as the output of the models. The results showed that in free flow mode in the validation stage, the MARS model with statistical indices of R2 = 0.985, RMSE = 0.008, MAPE = 0.87%, and the SVM model with statistical indices of R2 = 0.971, RMSE = 0.0012, MAPE =1.376%, and MLPNN model with statistical indices of R2 = 0.973, RMSE = 0.011, MAPE = 1.304% have modeled and predicted the flow rate. In the submerged state, the statistical indices of the developed MARS model were R2 = 0.978, RMSE = 0.018, MAPE = 3.6%, and the statistical indices of the SVM model were R2 = 0.988, RMSE = 0.014, 2%. MAPE = 4, and the statistical indicators of the MLPNN model were R2 = 0.966, RMSE = 0.022, and MAPE = 5.7%. In the development of SVM and MLPNN models, radial kernel and hyperbolic tangent functions were used, respectively.

Abstract
In this study, the decade variability of frequency and severity of drought in Iran has been investigated. The one-month scale data from the standardized precipitation-evapotranspiration index (SPEI 01) in the period 1956 - 2015 have been used. Based on the common numerical thresholds, the characteristics of the frequency and severity of drought for each pixel have been calculated and they are the basis for the analysis of the drought situation. Then, the frequency of drought severity classes was calculated and its trend was investigated using the non-parametric Mann-Kendall test. The findings indicated the spatio-temporal variability of drought frequency and intensity patterns in Iran. The frequency of mild droughts has decreased from south to north and from east to west; while the frequency of more severe droughts has increased from north to south and from west to east. The frequency of mild droughts in the southeast, northwest, and northeast has increased by 5 to 40 percent. While the frequency of more severe droughts in most parts of Iran has increased between 10 and 20 percent. Variability in the frequency of more severe droughts is more pronounced in the Central Plateau catchment area as well as in the Persian Gulf-Oman Sea. The trend of drought intensity is decreasing (drought intensification) at the same time as the prevailing rainfall regime in Iran. A significant increase in drought intensity (wet season intensification) is observed only in southeastern Iran at the same time as the monsoon regime. However, extra-arid and arid regions of southeastern Iran are affected by the frequency and severity of drought and have a high degree of vulnerability.

Abstract
Access to large precipitation data with appropriate accuracy can play an effective role in irrigation planning and water resources management. Satellite images generate high, wide, cheap, and up-to-date data is a good way to estimate precipitation. In this research, the Google Earth engine system and precipitation products from satellite images of PERSIANN and CHIRPS models in daily, monthly, and annual time intervals were used to evaluate and validate the amount of precipitation in Bandar Abbas station during the statistical period of 1983-2020. The results showed that the precipitation estimation by PERSIANN and CHIRPS satellites on a monthly and annual scale is more accurate than the daily scale. The highest correlation coefficient and the least RMSE belonged to the PERSIANN algorithm on monthly and annual scales. The value of the correlation coefficient in the PERSIANN algorithm on daily, monthly, and annual scales is equal to 0.32, 0.83, and 0.94, respectively. The correlation coefficient in the CHIRPS algorithm in daily, monthly, and annual scales is equal to 0.24, 0.71, and 0.90, respectively. The coefficient of determination (R2) of PERSIANN and Chrips algorithms on a monthly scale were 0.89 and 0.70, respectively, and for an annual scale were 0.88 and 0.80, respectively. The general conclusion of this study indicated that the accuracy of the two algorithms in determining the spatial pattern of rainfall on a monthly and annual scale is appropriate, and the PERSIANN algorithm had a higher accuracy on a monthly time scale.

Abstract
The selection of precision value for Roughness coefficient (RC) is necessary to design and utilize earth canals due to the vast distribution of Echinocola crus-galli in earth canals. Therefore, the current study was conducted to evaluate roughness coefficients in earth canals with Echinocola crus-galli at the Moghan plain (in the North-west of Iran). In the network of Moghan, 42 canal sections were selected to measure vegetation density and wet weight, water flow velocity (with a flow meter), and canal cross sections (with profilimetery devices). The hydraulic characteristics were estimated after water depth measurements. The Manning roughness coefficient (n) was applied to estimate the roughness coefficient. Path analysis was applied to identify the factors affecting the roughness coefficient. Multivariate cluster analysis using Ward's method and squared Euclidean distance was applied to cluster factors affecting the roughness coefficient in canals. The results revealed that RC averaged 0.015. The path analysis showed that the wetted perimeter, crop biomass, flow cross-sectional area, flow velocity, and hydraulic radius had the highest total effect on the roughness coefficient, respectively. The factors clustering showed that two clusters were obtained in the Euclidean distance of 11. The first cluster included flow velocity, crop biomass, flow rate, and bed slope; and the second cluster included flow cross-sectional area, wetted perimeter, and hydraulic radius. The findings could be helpful for designing and operating canals in the studied or similar regions.
