Abstract
With the advent of advanced geographical informational systems (GIS) and remote sensing technologies in recent years, topographic (elevation, slope, and aspect) and vegetation attributes are routinely available from digital elevation models (DEMs) and normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) at different spatial (watershed, regional) scales. This study explores the use of topographic and vegetation attributes in addition to soil attributes to develop pedotransfer functions (PTFs) for estimating soil saturated hydraulic conductivity in the rangeland of central Zagros. We investigated the use of artificial neural networks (ANNs) in estimating soil saturated hydraulic conductivity from measured particle size distribution, bulk density, topographic attributes, normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), soil organic carbon (SOC), and CaCo3 in topsoil and subsoil horizon. Three neural networks structures were used and compared with conventional multiple linear regression analysis. The performances of the models were evaluated using spearman’s correlation coefficient (r) based on the observed and the estimated values and normalized mean square error (NMSE). Topographic and vegetation attributes were found to be the most sensitive variables to estimate soil saturated hydraulic conductivity in the rangeland of central Zagros. Improvements were achieved with neural network (r=0.87) models compared with the conventional multiple linear regression (MLR) model (r=0.69).

Abstract
Rainfall-runoff modeling and prediction of river discharge is one important parameter in flood control and management, hydraulic structure design, and drought management. The goal of this study is simulating the daily discharge in Kasilian watershed by using WetSpa model and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). The WetSpa model is a distributed hydrological and physically based model, which is able to predict flood on the watershed scale with various time intervals. The ANFIS is a black box model which has attracted the attention of many researchers. The digital maps of topography, land use, and soil type are 3 base maps used in the model for the prediction of daily discharge while intelligent models use available hydrometric and meteorological stations' data. The results of WetSpa model showed that this model can simulate the river base flow with Nash- Sutcliff criteria of 64 percent in the validation period, but shows less accuracy with flooding discharges. The reason for this result can be the small and short Travel time noted. This model can simulate the water balance in Kasilian watershed as well. The sensitivity analysis showed that groundwater flow recession and rainfall degree-day parameters have the highest and lowest effect on the results, respectively. Also, ANFIS with the inputs of rainfall 1-day lag and evaporation 1-day lag, with Nash-Sutcliff criteria of 80, was superior to WetSpa model with Nash-Sutcliff criteria of 24 percent in the validation period.

Abstract
Regionalization is one of the useful tools for carrying out effective analyses in regions lacking data or with having only incomplete data. One of the regionalization methods widely used in the hydrological studies is the clustering approach. Moreover, another effective factor on clustering is the degree of importance and participation level for each of these attributes. In this study, it was tried to use a broad range of attributes to compare their performance in regionalization. Then, according to the importance and role of each attribute in regionalization, the appropriate weight for each of the attributes in each category was determined using the principal component analysis (PCA) method, and the effect of this weighting in forming the homogenous regions was investigated by the Ward's clustering method. In this regard, the maximum 24-hour rainfall data of 63 meteorological stations located in Urmia Lake Basin (ULB) was used in this study during a time period of 30 years (1979-2008). Furthermore, seven categories of attributes were defined in order to regionalize the rainfall. The results showed that by considering different attributes and combining them with each other, a different clustering is obtained in each category in terms of the number of clusters and stations. Among seven categories of attributes, it was found that the geographical and climatic-geographical categories of attributes showed a more appropriate clustering over the ULB. Additionally, the weighting of attributes could have more effect on improving homogeneity and forming the independent clusters in most cases in terms of the scattering of station and how to locate over the basin.

Abstract
In order to investigate the effect of water quantity in subsurface drip irrigation on water use efficiency of palm yield and yield components, and determining suitable irrigation treatments for three different date cultivars, a split plot experiment design in a randomized complete block design with three replications were applied for three cropping years (2013-2016), at Behbahan Agricultural Research Station. The applied irrigation water in three levels based on 75, 100 and 125 percent of water requirement in the main plots and three cultivars of Kabkab, Khasi and Zahidi dates were compared in sub plots. The irrigation level of 75% with 0.646 kg of dates per 1 cubic meter of water in terms of water use efficiency as compared to the other two levels of irrigation showed a significant superiority. The Khasi cultivar with 83.9 pips and 29.2929 fruits in the cluster ranked first. The irrigation level of 125% with 11.1% were higher in fruit moisture, and 100% and 75% irrigation levels with 9.6% and 7.8% moisture content were the next. The irrigation level of 125% for Kabkab cultivar with a volume of 11.1 cubic centimeters were ranked first. Optimizing water use and reducing it to 10606 cubic meters per hectare in irrigation level of 75% water treatment will save water consumption. If the basis for comparing the amount of water used in 100% water treatment is considered, then the use of subtropical drip irrigation reduces water consumption by 2509.6 and 5019.2 cubic meters per hectare, respectively, compared to 100 and 125% water requirements.

Abstract
Stilling basins have been used as an energy dissipater downstream of hydraulic structures. Dimensions of the stilling basins depends on hydraulic jump characteristics. In this research diverging hydraulic jump with an adverse slope using baffle blocks and an end sill have been studied experimentally and effect of diverging angle of the walls, adverse bed slope and baffle blocks on the hydraulic jump characteristics have been evaluated. Tests have been done for rectangular stilling basin with different bed slopes (0.025-0.05-0.075) and different diverging angle (3-5-9) degree and using baffle blocks. Discharge and Froude numbers considered to range from 39 to 81.7 lit/s and 4.44 to 8.56 respectively. Results have been indicated that the baffle blocks have been reduced sequent depth ratio and relative length of the jump 12% and 18% respectively (in comparison to diverging stilling basin with adverse slope without block). It was also found that baffle blocks and end sill could considerably improve the general condition and features of an expanding hydraulic jump with an adverse slope and could stabilize the position of this type and bi-stable situation of the flow.

Abstract
One of the reasons for soil salinization is the accumulation of salts in it by transmission through water and wind. In order to investigate the phenomenon of transfer of salts with dust in the arid regions of the north of Yazd- Ardakan plain, field samples were taken using 32 MDCO sediments traps with uniform dispersion in an area of 20,000 hectares at some stage in 4 seasons of 2017. After washing the sediment collector with a liter of distilled water in the field and transferring the samples to the laboratory, for the quantitative analysis of saline dust, similar to measuring the Water Electrical Conductivity (ECw), the Total Soluble Solids (TDS) were additionally measured through evaporation technique. The form and distribution of the dust particle size were additionally investigated using a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) tool. Within the qualitative examine of salts, effective cations and anions in salinity including Na+, K+, Ca++, Mg++, C1-, HCO-3 and SO-4 were measured The results confirmed that, in general, the fallout was 11.1 g.m-2 of soluble material with dust particles (13.28%) in the course of only 12 months. Particles with a diameter of 5 to 10 microns were the most frequent. Considering the high correlation between C1- and Na+ in the spring, autumn and winter, due to the high correlation between Ca++ and SO-4 in summer dust, sodium chloride (NaCl) and gypsum (CaSO4) 2H2O)), the most abundant composition of dust- containing salts could be expected in these seasons. By determining the percentage of solutes in the fallout dust, it was observed that the impact of the amount of the deposited salt from dust was slight and insignificant in the short time period; with the assumption of no change in the rate of subsidence, it was anticipated that it would explain the poor salinity in non- saline mass soils for up to 10 cm in 72 years. In general, the capability of airborne salt in increasing the soil salinity in the study area can be in long- term periods. Therefore, it is recommended to investigate other environmental effects of this phenomenon in order to identify its hazards.

Abstract
Astragalus fasciculifolius is one of the most distributed plant species in the arid and semiarid regions of southern Iran. It may be well grown on roadside. This investigation was carried out to study the effect of road and its traffic intensity on the soil physicochemical properties and plant nutrients availability of roadside and to monitor the concentration of nutrients in the aerial parts of Astragalus fasciculifolius. Thirty soil and plant samples from roadside and 100 m distance from road were randomly collected and some physicochemical soil properties and nutrients availability were determined. Concentrations of the nutrients in the aerial parts of the plants were also determined. The results indicated that roadside soils had more sand and calcium carbonate equivalent than the adjacent lands. Soils of the main roadside had less K and more Fe, Mn, Zn and Cu than the adjacent lands; this difference in local road was observed only for Fe and Cu. Nutrients concentration in the aerial parts of the plants was affected by road, and P, K, Mn and Zn showed significant increases in the roadside plants. Concentrations of P, Fe, Zn and Cu in plants grown in main roadside and concentrations of Fe and Zn in plants grown in the local roadside were correlated with their contents in the soils. The effect of roads on soil properties change and nutrients availability may be related to the addition of road bed and emission of vehicles. Generally, it could be concluded that roadside soils had more suitable water and nutrition conditions for the growth of Astragalus fasciculifolius, as compared to the soils of the adjacent lands.

Abstract
In order to investigate the effect of new deficit irrigation strategies on the quantitative characteristics and water productivity of two field grown corn cultivars, a split plot experiment was conducted as a randomized design in three replications. The irrigation treatments included full irrigation treatment (FI), static deficit irrigation (SDI), dynamic deficit irrigation (DDI), static partial root zone drying irrigation (SPRD), which received 75% of ET during the growth period, dynamic partial root zone drying irrigation (DPRD), which received 90% of ET in the first one- third of the growth period, 75% of ET in the second one- third of growth period, and 50% of ET in the last one- third of the growth period. The results showed that there were significant differences between irrigation strategies. The SDI, DDI, SPRD and DPRD irrigation treatments decreased the corn yield by 18%, 27%, 49% and 53%, as compared to FI, respectively. The results also showed that there were no significant differences between cultivars. Compared to FI, the SDI increased WP by 14%, but DDI, SPRD and DPRD decreased WP by 3%, 19% and 44%, respectively. According to economic analysis, irrigation optimum depth for the maximum net profit was obtained to be 858.5 mm. In general, the SDI strategy is recommended in the study area.

Abstract
One of the crucial problems that exist in the irrigation networks is the fluctuation of the water surface flow in the main channel and changes in the flow rate of the intake structure. One of the effective methods to decrease these fluctuations is increasing the weir crest length at the given width of the channel with the use of the labyrinth weirs can be achieved for this purpose. The labyrinth weir is the same linear weir that is seen as broken in the plan view. In this study, a labyrinth weir with a length of 3.72 m, three different heights of 15, 17, and 20 cm, three different shapes of dentate (rectangular, triangular, and trapezoidal), and a linear weir were used in a recirculating flume with 15 m length and 1 m width. The result showed that for a given length and height of weir, with the increasing of the upstream water head to the weir height ratio (
), the discharge coefficient decreases. The results showed that by increasing weir height, the discharge coefficient decreases for a given length of the weir. Linear weir and labyrinth weir without dentate create more water depth at the upstream by 3.3 and 1.2 fold compared with dentate labyrinth weir.

Abstract
Proper flood discharge forecasting is significant for the design of hydraulic structures, reducing the risk of failure, and minimizing downstream environmental damage. The objective of this study was to investigate the application of machine learning methods in Regional Flood Frequency Analysis (RFFA). To achieve this goal, 18 physiographic, climatic, lithological, and land use parameters were considered for the upstream basins of the hydrometric stations located in Karkheh and Karun watersheds (46 stations with a statistical length of 21 years). The best Probability Distribution Function (pdf) was then determined using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test at each station to estimate the flood discharge with a return period of 50-year using maximum likelihood methods and L-moments. Finally, RFFA was performed using a decision tree, Bayesian network, and artificial neural network. The results showed that the log Pearson type 3 distribution in the maximum likelihood method and the generalized normal distribution in the L moment method are the best possible regional pdfs. Based on the gamma test, the parameters of the perimeter, basin length, shape factor, and mainstream length were selected as the best input structure. The results of regional flood frequency analysis showed that the Bayesian model with the L moment method (R2 = 0.7) has the best estimate compared to other methods. Decision tree and artificial neural network were in the following ranks.

Abstract
Increasing crop production per unit volume of water consumption requires recognizing the most dependent variable in drip irrigation to the volume of water consumption and also identifying the most important variables independent of water productivity in surface and subsurface drip irrigation for optimal use of available water resources. The present research was carried out in Behbahan Agricultural Research Station during four cropping seasons (2013-2017) on a Kabkab date variety. Experimental treatments include the amount of water in the subsurface drip irrigation method based on two levels of 75% and 100% water requirement and in surface drip irrigation based on 100% water demand. Data were analyzed using a randomized complete block design with three replications. The results of the analysis of variance of the mean of different irrigation treatments in quantitative traits showed that the effect of irrigation was significant at the level of 1% in terms of cluster weight index, fruit weight, and fruit flesh to kernel weight ratio. The results of regression analysis of variance showed that in the dependent variable of cluster weight, the consumption water volume explained 19.1% (R2 = 0.191) of the fluctuations of the dependent variable (cluster weight). Among all the studied variables, the volume of water consumption explained the most significant changes in date cluster drying. Fruit moisture with t (2.096) and equivalent beta coefficient (0.046) had a significant positive effect on water productivity at the level of 5%. The results of the Pearson correlation coefficient showed that the effect of yield on changes in water productivity was much greater than the volume of water consumed so the yield caused significant changes in water productivity. While the effect of water consumption on water productivity was not significant.

Abstract
The objective of the present study was to investigate the performance of some of the extracted information for mapping land degradation using remote sensing and field data in Fras province. Maps of vegetation cover, net primary production, land use, surface slope, water erosion, and surface runoff indicators were extracted from MOD13A3, MOD17A3, Landsat TM, SRTM, ICONA model, and SCS model, respectively. The rain use efficiency index was obtained from the net primary production and rainfall map, which was calculated from meteorological stations. The final land degradation map was prepared by integrating all the mentioned indicators using the weighted overlay method. According to the ICONA model, 5.1, 9, 47.21, 27.91, and 10.73 percent of the study area were classified as very low, low, moderate, severe, and very severe water erosion; respectively. Overlaying the ICONA map with other indicators showed that very high and high classes, moderate, and low and very low classes of land degradation covered 1.3, 18.7, 70, 0.9, and 9.1 percent of the study area, respectively. According to the results, integrating remote sensing with ICONA and SCS models increases the ability to identify land degradation.

Abstract
Knowledge of the distribution of heavy metal concentrations in different components of soil particles is significant to assess the risk of heavy metals. The objective of this study was to evaluate some pollution indices and spatial variations in their estimation in different components of soil particle size fractions (<2000 and> 63 μm) in the Baghan watershed in the southeast of Bushehr province with an area of about 929 square kilometers. The location of 120 surficial composite soil samples (0-20 cm) was determined by using the Latin hypercube method. Soil pollution was assessed using geochemical indices of contamination factor (CF) and pollution load index (PLI). The kriging method was used in the Arc GIS software to interpolate the spatial variations of CF and PLI. Based on the results, the CF displayed the particles in the size < 2000 microns compared to all metals in moderate pollution conditions (1≤CF <3) and with the fineness of soil particles (particles with a diameter <63 microns) concerning to Cd metal shows significant contamination status and moderate pollution with other metals, respectively. CFZn, CFCu, and CFFe in particle size <2000 microns and CFPb in finer class were fitted with a spherical model and other metal contamination coefficients with an exponential model. CFCd and CFFe have the highest impact ranges at <2000 and < 63 microns, respectively. The results of this research confirm that corrective operation is needed to monitor cadmium status in the studied area.

Abstract
In this research, the trend of spatial changes in extreme indices of temperature related to the health and agriculture sectors such as the number of frost days, number of summer days, number of icing days, number of tropical nights, growing season length, diurnal temperature range, cold spell duration index, and warm spell duration index were investigated for 54 synoptic stations throughout Iran for observational (1976-2005) and future (2025-2054) periods. Daily maximum and minimum temperature data of three regional climate models namely, CCSM4, MPI-ESM-MR, and NORESM1-ME from the CORDEX project under RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 scenarios were downscaled for each station using a developed multiscale bias correction method. Then, trends and changes of extreme temperature indices were investigated using Mann-Kendall and Sen’s trend line slope methods. The results indicated that the warm indices such as the number of summer days and tropical nights indices have had a positive trend at most stations in both observational and future periods. In contrast, cold indices like the number of frost days have had a decreasing trend in most stations. The results of cold and warm spell duration indices showed that most stations have had no trend for both periods. The growing season length has increased in more than 60% of stations (45% having a significant trend) mainly located in the northern, northwestern, and western regions of the country. Based on the results, it can be concluded that without considering thoughtful climate adaptation measures, some parts of the country may face health risks and limited habitability and agriculture in the future.

Abstract
In sustainable agriculture, cow manure is used for greater productivity, a rich source of E-Coli pathogenic bacteria. The objective of this research was to investigate the simultaneous effect of the fractionation size of cattle manure and irrigation water salinity on the retention of E-Coli bacteria in the depths of the sand column with a height of 10 cm under saturated flow. Four different particle fractions of cow manure (1-2, 0.5-1, 0.25-0.5, and smaller than 0.25 mm) were added to the surface of the sand column at the scale of 30 tons per hectare, then leaching was done with different salinities (0, 0.5, 2.5, 5, and 10 dS/m) up to 10 pore volumes, then samples were taken from the depths of 0, 3, 6, and 12 cm. The number of bacteria in each sample was determined by the live counting method. The results showed that the effect of all sources of change and their interaction effects on the retention of bacteria in the soil is significant at the level of 5%. Salinity had a negative effect on the retention of bacteria, and the highest and lowest values of the relative concentration of bacteria (the result of dividing the number of bacteria in each soil depth by the initial number of bacteria in the desired manure treatment) were in 0 dS/m and 10 dS/m salinity of leaching water, respectively. By decreasing the size of cow manure particles due to the increase in hydrophobicity and blocking of preferential pores, the retention of bacteria decreased in all investigated soil depths. The highest and lowest retention of bacteria in the soil were investigated in the largest cow manure particle size (1-2 mm) and the smallest cow manure particle size (less than 0.25 mm), respectively. In addition, the highest relative concentration of bacteria in the soil was seen in the depth of 0-3 cm, and no significant difference was seen in other soil depths.
