Abstract

Combining herbicides for controlling broadleaf weeds and grasses in wheat farms has not been studied under Isfahan environmental conditions. Thus, this experiment was conducted in 1995-96 at the Agricultural Research Station, Isfahan University of Technology, in order to investigate the issue. In this study, 2,4-D+MCPA (U46 Combi Fluid 6), bromoxynil, metribuzin, diclofop-methyl and tralkoxydim and their combinations in 11 treatments plus weed-free and weedy checks were evaluated using a randomized complete block design with 4 replications. Goldbachia laevigata and Avena fatua were the dominant weeds. Cirsium arvense and Convolvulus arvensis were of less importance. Efficacy of bromoxynil on annual broadleaf weeds was higher than 2,4-D+MCPA, while 2,4-D+MCPA was more effective on perennial broadleaf weeds. Diclofop-methyl and combination of bromoxynil with tralkoxydim were the most effective on A. fatua, while differences between treatments containing diclofop-methyl or tralkoxydim on decreasing A. fatua numbers were non-significant. The most and the least visual damages to wheat plants were caused by metribuzin and bromoxynil, respectively. Wheat yield was not significantly affected by treatments. However, the highest yield was obtained by tralkoxydim + bromoxynil treatment, which produced the lowest total dry weight of weeds at terminal spikelet and heading stages of wheat. The results obtained here indicate that combination of bromoxynil with tralkoxydim might be the best treatment for the control of all annual weeds under conditions similar to this experiment. But if perennial broadleaf weeds and wild oat are dominant in the field, combination of 2,4-D+MCPAwith diclofop-methyl might be preferred.

Abstract

Different Extractants have been proposed to assess available P in different soils. Olsen method is widely used to determine available P in calcareous soils of Iran. However, it has not been compared adequately with other extractants. The main objective of this experiment was to compare this procedure with some other methods. Thirty nine calcareous soil samples from Fars Province with different physico-chemical characteristics were examined for available P by nine extractants. Furthermore, the effects of four P levels (0, 50, 100, 200 µgPg-1 soil) on growth, P concentration and P uptake by corn were studied in a greenhouse experiment using 20 soil samples. The results indicated that the amount of extractable P decreased in the order, anion-exchange resin > Colwell > Morgan > Olsen > Bray P1 (1:50) > Soltanpour & Schawb > EDTA > Bray P1 (1:7) > Water. The amounts of P extracted by all methods, except that by Bray method, showed significant correlation. However, the correlation coefficients between resin, Olsen, Colwell and water were higher than the others. Regression analysis showed that P extracted by all methods, except Bray, was affected by organic matter and native Zn. Moreover, P removed by Bray method was decreased with an increase in calcium carbonate equivalent. Correlation between top dry weight, relative growth and P uptake and P extracted by resin, Colwell, Olsen and water were highly significant. Although the correlation coefficients between growth parameters and P extracted by Morgan and Soltanpour & Schawb were significant, they were of lower magnitude. Plant phosphorus concentration showed significant correlation with P extracted by Olsen and Colwell methods. In general, resin, Olsen and Colwell methods seem to be appropriate extractants for available P in the present study. However, to select the appropriate extractants, more research is needed.

Abstract

This experiment was conducted to study genetic variation for electrophoretic seed protein patterns and their relations with some seed characteristics such as protein and oil percentages, chemical compositions and 100-seed weight among 270 soybean (Glycine max L. Moench) genotypes.

Among different electrophoresis procedures examined, 10% and 4.5% concentrations of acrylamide for resolving and stacking gels, respectively, 13.5 mg/ml concentration of protein buffer extraction, injection of 10 microlitre sample injection into gel hollows, 2.5 miliamper and 2-hours staining period were determined as the best combination to achieve clear bands and good separation. Based on relative mobility on gel, 30 protein bands were observed, of which only 5 varied among genotypes. In general, 8 electrophoretic patterns were recognized. Cluster analysis based on qualitative evaluation of patterns grouped the genotypes in 8 clusters and classified different bands in three groups. Simple concordance (matching) coefficients between protein bands with relative mobilities of 2.5% and 49.5% were zero, which is an indication of their independent occurrence. Probably, these bands are coded with one gene that in dominant and recessive homozygous genotypes appear as a single band at different positions on the gel. Analysis of variance revealed significant differences (P<0.05) among protein patterns for protein and oil percentages. Correlation coefficients between variable protein bands and studied traits showed a positive and significant relation (P<0.05) of bands with relative mobility of 3.5 and 49.5 with protein and phosphorous contents of the seeds, respectively. Protein patterns having band with relative mobility of 49.5 had the highest phosphorous content. Black hilum color of seeds was related to protein band with relative mobility of 52.

Abstract

In order to study the efficacy of Sunn pests' parasitoid flies, four overwintering sites of Sunn pest in Isfahan, including mountains of Kolahghazy, Panjeh, Jozdan and Sacepid were selected and from each site four different elevations were designated as sampling sites. During 1997, at least 6 and, in 1998, three samples were taken at each sampling site. In spring 1998, four wheat and barley fields were selected from Mahyar, Zeyar, Shahinshahr and Lavark regions and from each field eight samples were taken. In order to observe the larvae of parasitoids and to determine their efficiency, 100 Sunn pests were dissected from each sampling unit of aestivation, overwintering, wheat and barley fields.

The parasitism of prevalent species (Phasia subcoleoptrata L.) in spring 1998 was 15.39% for the 1st generation and 1.5% in 1997 and 3.5% in 1998 for the second generation of the pest. All other parasitoid species parasitized less than 1% of the pest population. In some regions, such as Lavark and Zeyar, chemical application against nymphs of Sunn pest were accomplished in spring 1998 at the peak of adult activity of parasitoids' 2nd generation. This application had negative effects on the population of parasitoids but in Shahinshahr where chemical application was accomplished at pupal stage of parasitoid, it did not have any direct adverse effects on the population of dominant parasitoid.

Abstract

Alternate bearing is a key factor in limiting citrus production. Chemical controls have proved to be the most effective solution to this problem. Two different experiments were conducted to study the effects of different growth regulators (GA3, NAA, Ethephon) and urea on alternate bearing control in Kinnow mandarin (Citrus reticulata). In the first experiment, GA3 at concentrations of 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 mgl-1 were applied 3 times during late autumn and early winter 1993 on off trees. Flowers reduced as a result of GA3 application in the following spring but increased in the second spring. Best results obtained with 50 and 75 mgl-1. In the 2nd experiment thinning agents: NAA (0, 100, 200 and 300 mgl-1), ethephon (0, 100, 200, 300 mgl-1) and urea (0, 4, 8 and 12%) were sprayed to the trees on on-year, when the fruitlets were about 0.75-1 cm in diameter. The results indicated that urea had no effect however, both NAA and ethephon were effective on thinning of fruits and control of fruiting. Ethephon at 200 and 300 mgl-1, and NAA at 400 mgl-1 gave the best results.

Abstract

In order to investigate the effects of mineral compounds as complementary nutrients for silkworm, Bombyx mori, an experiment was performed in CRD with five treatments including: 1%, 5% and10% concentrations of multi-mineral mixtures (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium) with normal and distilled water treatments as controls. The larvae were fed by mulberry leaves from Shien Ichenoise variety up to the fourth instar. From the beginning of the fourth instar, the supplementary leaves were used once a day. The supplementation of the leaves was done by spraying the solution on them. The amount of total protein and uric acid in haemolymph of a 6-day 5th instar larva was measured. The value of total protein compared to controls had significantly increased in all mineral treatments. The larvae's weight on the third day of the fifth instar had significant difference from controls, but the weight of silk gland did not show such a difference. However, uric acid of insect's blood demonstrated little differences but it showed no statistical significant differences from that in controlled insects. Despite this, the weight of cocoon, cocoon shell and pupa also had significant differences compared to controls, where this enhancement was higher in females than in males. Due to increase of the number of eggs, statistically there was a significant difference between the 10% treatment and others. The compounds had decreased the hatching percentage.

Abstract

The present experiment evaluated the effects of fat (Kilka fish oil) levels (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20%) in the diet (35% constant protein) on performance of rainbow trout. The experiment was performed in a completely randomized design, with 4 replicates, 200 grower fish with an average weight of 200±11 gr, each. They were randomly divided into 20 groups of 10 fish per group reared in separate pens. Fish were acclimated to the experimental conditions for 10 days before treatments began and then the experiment was performed over a period of 8 weeks. Measured criteria were weight gain (WG), specific growth rate (SGR), feed conversion ratio (FCR), condition factor (CF) and flesh chemical composition (fat, protein, ash), and fat stored in liver. Results showed that the diet with 15 percent fat content had significantly (P<0.05) better WG and FCR than other diets, but no significant differences were observed for SGR and CF. Diets with 15 and 20 percent fat contents caused the highest fat content in meat and liver and showed significant differences (P<0.05) with the meat and liver fat content in fish fed fat-free diets. Diet with 15 percent fat content caused significantly (P<0.05) lowest protein content in meat. No significant differences were observed in the ash content of the flesh. From the results of the present study, the level of 15 percent Kilka fish oil is recommended for the rainbow trout diet.

Abstract

Investigation of paleosols plays a great role in paleoecological and paleoclimatological studies. They are also important in soil survey and planning, as they exhibit characteristics different from younger soils. Paleosols are those soils which formed under conditions different from present ones, and are either buried within sedimentary sequences or those which lie on persisting surfaces. Although such soils are widespread in central Iran and Zagros Zone, they have not been studied adequately. Paleosols are identified by different parameters such as morphological, physical, chemical, mineralogical, and micromorphological characteristics. In this study, morphological, physical, and chemical properties of three paleosols from Isfahan and Chaharmahal & Bakhtiary provinces were investigated. The profiles were on different landforms including alluvial fan, dissected old plain, and old lagoonal deposits. Soil profile in Segzi site, on old lagoonal deposits, had a very dark and thick layer at a depth of 45-60 cm containing some macrofossil shells. This shows that this area was covered by brackish water during the early Holocene. In Sepahanshahr profile, presence of strong clay coating and high concentrations of CaCO3 indicates a wetter environment in the past than the present conditions with a precipitation of only 100 mm. In Emam-Gheis profile, a buried paleosol was identified with strong clay coating and free CaCO3 horizons that shows more humid conditions. Evidences obtained from the three paleosols studied indicate that effective moisture in central Iran and Zagros regions during Late Pleistocene had been higher than its present levels.

Abstract

In this study, some physico-chemical characteristics of Iranian tea-seed oil (Lahijan variety) were compared with those of the oils from sunflower seed (Fars variety) and olive (Gilezeytoon variety) in terms of fatty acid contents, peroxide value, iodine value, saponification value, and oil shelf-life. Also the shelf-life of sunflower and olive oils containing 5% and 10% tea-seed oil were compared against control sample shelf-life. Tea-seed oil was found to be suitable and stable in nutritional properties. At a temeprature of 63oC, tea-seed and olive oils were found to have identical shelf-life values, which was higher than that of sunflower oil. Furthermore, the shelf-life of sunflower oil increased when mixed with tea-seed oil.

Abstract

Canning of sausage is one of the methods to extend the shelf life of sausage with lower percentage of additives such as nitrite. This method reduces transport and storgae costs, too. The present stduy was carried out in two stages. The first stage consists of preparing sausages with four different formulations in Isfahan Senobar Factory and producing canned sausage. In the second stage, physicochemical and organoleptic experiments were carried out. Canned (214409) and bottled (No. 10-67) sausages were produced and sterilized in autoclave (absolute pressure=2 atm) to give F value = 4 min. Cans and jars were filled with skinless sausage of 22 calibre and brine (2% and 25oC) at a sausage/brine ratio of 1:1. Chemical composition such as moisture, fat and protein were measured according to the standard and AOAC methods. Physical experimets including measurement of texture shear strength were performed in sausage and canned sausage over the 3-month storage period. Factorial experiments in completely randomized design was used to investigate and analyze statistical data in this study. The Duncan’s multiple range test was used to compare data averages. Moisture content increased and sausgae texture shear strength decreased in all formulations as a result of sterilization. Moisture content increased in four canned sausage formulations while protein and fat decreased (by the end of the second month of storage). Also, sausage texture shear strength was observed at this time to decrease. In organoleptic evaluations, four canned sausage formulations were not significantly different in flavor, texture, and color (P<0.01).

Abstract

A 3×4 factorial experiment was conducted for 45 days to determine the effects of diets containing different levels of protein and fat on growth of fingerlings Beluga (Huso huso L.1758). Twelve different diets were formulated with 3 levels of protein (45,50 and 55) and 4 levels of oil including fish oil and sunflower oil (0.5 ,4 , 8 and 12). 1260 Beluga fingerlings with an initial body weight (IBW) of 2.2 gram, after adaptation to the experimental conditions, were selected and stocked randomly into 36 fiberglass tanks (100 water volume) at 35 fish per tank, and fed on experimental diets for 45 days. Two ways analysis of variance showed that the percentage of body weight increase (%BWI), specific growth rate (SGR),protein efficiency ratio (PER), food concumpsion ratio, and productive protein value (PPV) content were significantly (P<0.05) affected by different protein and fat levels. Fishes fed on diets No.3 (containing 45% protein and 14 % lipid) and No.8 (containing 50% protein and 17 % lipid) showed the highest increase in body weight percentage, the best specific growth rate, protein efficiency ratio, and lowest food concumption ratio. Besides, the highest productive protein value was observed in diet No.2 (45% protein and 10.5% lipid) and diet No.3 (45% protein and 14 % lipid).Comparison of chemical composition of examined fish corps indicated a significant difference in their protein and lipid contents (P<0.05). However, the composition of the diet, revealed no significant changes on the dry matter and ash content of the body. Based on the findings of the present study 45-50% dietary crude protein is recommended for the optimum growth of Beluga fingerling. Moreover, the rate of needed lipid for optimum growth of fingerling range is from 14 to17 percents.

Abstract

Agropyron is one of the most resistant plants to biotic and abiotic stresses. It plays an important role in forage yield in rangelands. Genetic variability based on different markers is the important step in crop improvement. In order to evaluate the genetic variation of different Agropyron species based on morphological and chemical traits, this experiment was carried out in the Agriculture and Natural Resources Research Center of Kermanshah. The tiller numbers, spike length, spikelet numbers, length of flag leaf, width of flag leaf, plant height, peduncle length, ash percentage, organic matter, fiber, dry matter, fat and crude protein were registered. Statistical analysis of data was done by SPSS software. According to cluster analysis the tetraploid genotypes were classified into 5 clusters. Based on principal components analysis the length of flag leaf, spike length and plant height, and among the chemical traits of the ash percentage, organic matter, and crude protein had the highest portions of variance. The genetic parameters such as PCV, GCV, ECV, Hb and Ga for length of flag leaf were 0.274, 0.169, 0.215, 0.382, 3.05 and for spike length were 30.96, 21.64,22.139, 0.48, 5.786 and for plant height were 0.16, 0.084, 0.136,0.276, 6.054, respectively.

Abstract

In irrigation scheduling, one question is “how much is the optimal depth?”. In this study the optimal irrigation depth (by assuming the power distribution function and by taking into consideration the distribution function, which governs the data (normal distribution)) by considering the environmental effects was determined for three water management strategies (i. e. unlimited, limited nitrogen leaching and environmental protection) for wheat under center pivot irrigation system. The System layout in 32 hectare field was installed according to the ASAE standard. Four radial lines of catch cans were used at intervals of 6m (two radial lines of catch cans A and B, were installed on the maximum slope with 3˚ between every two rows and two radial lines of catch cans C and D, were installed on the minimum slope with 3˚ between every two rows). The field data were collected by the five different speeds of the center pivot system. The economical ratio (C) for three water management strategies were 31.19, 4.58 and 1.45, respectively. The optimum irrigation water was calculated for the three different management strategies. The results indicated that the lowest value of optimal irrigation depth was observed under the unlimited strategy, and the highest value of optimal irrigation depth was found for the environmental protection strategies (both with assuming power distribution and normal distiribution function).

Abstract

Production and consumption of whole tomato and/or its products(tomato paste, tomato juice, ketchup, etc) is incearsed all over the world. Annual production of tomato in Iran is about 3.4 million tons (MT), part of that is processed in the tomato paste factorise, which are mostly located in khorasan province. Since tomato variety has a determinant effect on the physico-chemical and organo leptical properties/quality of tomato and its products, an investigation was performed to evaluate the impact of variety and storage time of four tomato varieties, Cal.j.n.3, Early Urbana Y, Early Urbana 111and Peto early C.H which were selected according to a national project and were monitored according to their brix, pH, Acidity, Sugar and Salt contents, total and non soluble solids. Results indicated that Early Urbana 111 and Peto early C.H contained the highest amounts of soluble solids along with the highest pH. Also it was evidenced that these varieties were the most stable varieties as the least compositional changes was seen in them.

Abstract

The Two cultivars of kiwi fruit, Hayward and Abbot, with the desirable quality were harvested on time from Valiabad, a region in Tonekabon (Mazanddaran Provicnce). Fruits were graded and packed in the wooden boxes, cartons and low density polyethylene (LDPE) films, the fruits were cold stored in a proper and constant conditions (T= ±0.5 & RH=90-95%) for a period of 6 months. Samples were taken in completely randomised design from each package for intervals of 30±3 days and during storage (6 months). Chemical characteristics such as the total soluble solids(TSS), titratable acidity as citric acid, dry matter, vitamin C and the Physical characteristics such as yield point (Y.P.), yield point strength (Y.P.S.), penetration force (P.F.) and penetration stress (P.S.) were measured. Statistical analysis was performed with the factorial experiment in an unequal completely randomized design and the means compaired by Duncan multiple range test. The results indicated that, cv, Abbot has shorter shelf life, 4 months, compared to Hayward with 6 months storage period. Hayward contained more dry matter than Abbot throughout the storage period. Total soluble solids of cultivars increased and titrable acidity as citric acid decreased during storage. Vitamin C of Abbot was more than Hayward throughout the storage. Total factors in relation to texture and physical properties decreased by time such texture Hayward cv.after six month storage and in Abbot after four month storage was softer. As the final conclusion, wooden bins packaging for longer storage and plastic packaging for monotonous rippening of kiwifruit was the best in compared with other packaging.

Abstract

To search for reproducible and environment-friendly antifungal agents, essential oils of five plant species including Myrtus communis, Mentha aquatica, Vitex agnus-castus, Thymus daenensis and Artemisia aucheri were studied for their inhibition effects on the mycelial growth of plant pathogenic fungi including Fusarium oxysporum, Pythium ultimum, Rhizoctonia solani and Gaeumannomyces graminis. The experiment was conducted using a completely randomized design of factorial experiment including three essential oil concentrations and three replications at 25±2 ºC on PDA. Results revealed that R. solani with 48.83 and P.ultimum with 89.62% mean of mycelial growth inhibition were the most resistant and the most susceptible fungi to the essential oils, respectively. The essential oil of M. aquatica and T. daenensis with 93.70 and 92.74% mean of mycelial growth inhibition showed the most inhibition effect and V. agnus-castus with 33.88% was the least mycelial growth inhibitor. The essential oil of M. aquatica and T. daenensis at 20 µl/petri plate (9 cm. in diameter) completely inhibited the mycelial growth of the tested fungi. Considering the high antifungal effect, and low human and environmental hazard of essential oils, it seems that the essential oils may be used for the control of plant pathogenic fungi, or at least they may be adopted as a model for the synthesis of new antifungal agents.

Abstract

A field study was conducted at the Zabol Agricultural Research Center during the years (2003-2004) to investigate the effect of irrigation with treated municipal wastewater on the yield and quality of wheat and some soil properties. Irrigation treatments were: T1: Irrigation of wheat with well water during entire period of growing season T2: Irrigation of wheat with well water until the begging of flowering stage, and irrigation with wastewater in every other turns of irrigation T3: Irrigation of wheat with well water until the beginning of booting stage, and irrigation with wastewater in every other turns of irrigation T4: Irrigation of wheat with well water until the begging of tilling stage, and irrigation with wastewater in every other turns of irrigation and T5: Irrigation of wheat with wastewater during entire period of growing season. A complete randomized block design with four replications was adopted for this experiment. The soil was sandy loam with no limitation for internal drainage. Chemical and physical aspects of soil were measured during the experiment. Grain yield, yield components and chemical composition of wheat grain were also measured. The results showed that yield of wheat and total biomass production were statistically significant in T3, T4 and T5 compared with the control treatment. Plant height, width and length of flag leaf, numbers of fertile tillers, length of panicle, numbers of grains per panicle and weight of 1000 grains were also statistically significant with the control treatment. Percentages of protein were statistically different among various irrigation treatments. No significant changes in accumulation of heavy metals in soil and plant grains were observed. The increase of SAR, ECe, O.C% and total nitrogen in the T4 and T5 were statistical significant compared with the control treatment. In summary, for sustainable use of Zabol municipal wastewater, the growth stages of wheat should be irrigated with municipal wastewater and other growth stages should be irrigated with nonsalinty water, so that the maximum yield is obtained and soil salinitisation and sodication is prevented.

Abstract

To evaluate the effects of chemical and hand fruit thinning on pistachio flower bud retention, experiments were conducted during 1382 and 1383. In the first year, ethephon treatments at the concentrations of 100 and 200 mg L-1, urea at 2.5% and 5%, naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) 125 and 250 mg L-1 and naphthaleneacetamide (NAD) 250 and 500 mg L-1 were sprayed on two branches of nine uniform trees with four replications. During the second year, hand fruit thinning treatments were used in addition to the previous treatments. Chemical treatments reduced flower bud abscission among them ethephon treatments were the most effective on flower bud retention. As compared with other treatments, hand thinning treatments had also positive effect on flower bud retention. Fruit thinning also increased kernel weight, reduced the number of nuts per ounce and decreased blank fruits. Fruit thinning had no significant effect on the yield of branches during ‘on’ year.

Abstract

Cadmium (Cd) and its rate in soil have received lots of attention because it is easily taken up by plant root, making it 20 times more toxic in comparison with other heavy metals. Knowledge about the factors affecting Cd availability and conversion of its chemical forms is, therefore, important. Sequential extraction has been used as a suitable method for identification of chemical forms and their relationship with plant availability, but in soils of Iran less attention has been paid to studying the change in chemical forms as affected by time. The present research was designed to study the change in Cd chemical forms as affected by application rate and time of incubation in two soil textural classes. A clay loam calcareous soil [Fine, mixed (calcareous), mesic Typic Calcixerepts] was converted to sandy loam soil by adding pure quartz sand and both soils were treated with 0, 5, 15, 30, and 60 mg Cd / kg soil as cadmium sulfate and incubated at room temperature near field capacity moisture. After 0, 1, 2, 4, 8, and 16 weeks, chemical forms of Cd were determined by sequential extraction. Results showed that, depending on the textural classes, about 82 and 87 % of applied Cd was converted to soluble+exchangeable, carbonate, and organic forms. In both soils carbonate fraction was dominant. Conversion of applied Cd to soluble+exchangeable and carbonate forms in sandy loam was higher than in clay loam. For organic, manganese oxide, amorphous iron oxide, and residual forms, the reverse was true. The crystalline iron oxide form was less than detection limit of atomic absorption in both textural classes. Increasing the application rate caused an increase in all forms of Cd but the percentage increase depended on the capacity of different soil components for Cd retention. Carbonate showed the highest capacity for retention. The effect of incubation time on conversion of Cd to different forms was significant. However, in almost all treatments more than 80 % of added Cd was converted to carbonate and organic forms immediately, and the proportion approximately stayed the same throughout the course of experiment.

Abstract

It is necessary to use organic fertilizers and decrease chemical fertilizers consumption to reach sustainable agriculture. Thus, to study the effects of manure incorporation methods, and integrated effects of poultry manure with chemical fertilizers on the grain yield and yield components of maize, an experiment was conducted in 2004 at the Agricultural Research Farm of Lorestan Weather Department, 30 kms northeast of Khorramabad. The treatments were arranged in a split plot layout based on randomized complete block design with four replications. The main plots consisted of incorporation of fertilizer with soil by furrower or disk. The subplots included T0: control (no consumption of fertilizer and poultry manure) T1: 200, 100, and 100 kg ha-1 of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, respectively T2: 80% of T1+ 4 ton ha-1 of poultry manure T3: 60% of T1+ 8 ton ha-1 of poultry manure T4: 40% of T1+ 12 ton ha-1 of poultry manure T5: 20% of T1+ 16 ton ha-1 of poultry manure and T6: 20 ton ha-1 of poultry manure. The results showed that incorporation of fertilizer by furrower, compared with disk, led to significant increase in plant height, 1000 seed weight and grain and biological yields. However, there were not significant differences in the number of seed per ear and harvest index between the two fertilizer incorporation methods. Fertilizer treatments caused significant increase of the treats mentioned except for the harvest index. The interaction effects were not significant for any traits. T5 treatment produced the highest grain yield, and was significantly different from T0, T1, T3 and T6 treatments. The differences between T1 (chemical nutrition system) and T6 (organic nutrition system) were not significant either. Effectiveness of integrated poultry manure and chemical fertilizers on maize yield components was higher than either poultry manure or chemical fertilizer. The results of this experiment indicated that incorporation of 16 ton poultry manure + 40, 20 and 20 kg ha-1 N, P and K with furrower might be appropriate for maize prodution under conditions similar to this experiment.
